“Since we were also uneducated we didn’t think much about our children’s education. But World Vision India taught us to think more about our children’s welfare. They set up one Remedial Education Centre (REC). Then we made self-help group in our community and there we discuss about the welfare of the children and our community,” said Seema Devi.
Back then, the village had no running water and had to be drawndownhill, from a hand pump at the main road. Suhani and her friends spent most parts of mornings and evenings fetching water and sometimes evenmissed school. The village also had no toilet and defecating in the open was a dangerous and an unhygienic practice.

For Suhani and her friends who were born without basic needs such astoilet and clean water, education was never a priority. World Vision India took care of those necessities by building toilets and proving water tanks ̶ so the children could attend school and dream.
At evenings children attend the Remedial Education Centre (REC). Suhani’s mom believes that her children would have never studied this far without REC. “They would spend a lot of time playing outdoors. They began to take studies more serious after attending REC. I’m very happy to see my children study,” said Seema Devi, who never went to school.
Child Sponsorship not only supports with education, it also transforms communities. Donate online and help poor children.
Remedial Education Centre (REC) was set up by World Vision India for learning support of children under 6–14 years. Every study centre has a teacher and free classes are given for two hours. It is to ensure that children attain appropriate age learning and also develop foundational, essential and applied life skills.
There are 58 RECs in 58 villages and 1409 children have enrolled.
All this happened when kind sponsors like you decided to commit to Rs. 800 every month to help poor children. Join World Vision India’s Child Sponsorship programme in creating lasting change, visit worldvision.in to donate online.
